The season is in full-swing and the house and the sunsets from the deck are all looking great. We’ve installed an outdoor artwork from US / Wellington-based artist and designer Steve Cicala. The work, based on famous creepy-characters from DC Comics, is laser-printed onto corrogated steel and installed in the back garden.
Indoors there are some new, limited-edition works from Minneapolis-based designer Charles Spencer Anderson and groovy vintage posters from the mid-1960s of Disneyland attractions.
The Crayfish (aka Rock Lobsters) you see here were caught while out on a 4-hour excursion with Tryphena-based Chaos Charters, skippered by the knowledgeable Barry Kearney. The trip was great fun and highly recommended for fishing or just getting a lovely trip around GBI. Everyone who visits Great Barrier Island loves it, but when it is cold and windy and damp, it can be a little harder to love! With that in mind, Molesworth has gone out and bought the place a Morsø 1410 potbelly stove, (the one at the top of the page) which according to the sales literature, with not only create a warm and cosy atmosphere, but you can cook on top of it too!
We secretly think that Molesworth bought this one because of the kooky cast-iron squirrel on the side, but he ain’t telling. Expect to have a warm, cosy stove heating up your stay at Molesworth’s Bach!
Molesworth’s is a holiday home perched on a hill overlooking Mulberry Beach, not far from Tryphena and the ferry dock from Auckland. Molesworth’s has two bedrooms, comfortably sleeping four – perfect for a family. The house has a large yard for games and kicking back, with a small private garden at the rear for a quiet coffee and newspaper in the morning. Recent upgrades to the solar power system allow you to enjoy your PC, our stereo with Mp3 plug-in and other gadgets in a planet-friendly state-of-mind. We hope you find all the info you need about coming and staying at Molesworth’s on the site. Send an email here.
If you are on Facebook, join our Facebook fan page, where we will regularly post news and special offers. You can meet some of Molesy’s mates who have come over to the island to hang out at the bach. If we are running an offer, all you need to do is quote FACEBOOK OFFER in your accommodation request and we’ll make a deal!
